Hey Anjunafamily! This is a special edition of Sinewave Radio, dedicated to everyone travelling to the amazing Anjunadeep: Explorations festival in Dhermi, Albania; a beautifully sandy spot located on the Albanian Riveria.

Like many others, I will be travelling for a long time tomorrow to reach the festival so I decided to package together some of my favourite deep house tracks, and a few beachy tunes, and a few recommendations from friends, hopefully to give you a sneak peak at the sort of music to expect at the Explorations festival - Many of the artists on this mix will be playing live at the festival, and personally, I can't wait!

I've also uploaded this mix to my google drive should you want to download and listen to it offline whilst you're travelling: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Vjg9W8Klf0lG1ltsGrsuFDu-_HlqMz8H?usp=sharing

So I hope you all have a safe and pleasant journey, and if you spot me (Look out for the S!), come say hi!

Safe travels,
Soen

I thought I would try something completely new! Anjunadeep 15 has just been released, so I thought I'd try my hand at mixing some of my favourite tracks from the album... A little bit tricky in places because it is such a diverse album, and I've thrown in a couple of surprises as well.

Next week I'm off to Anjunadeep Explorations so discover a brand new location, make some new friends and no doubt some brand new tracks to bring back with me as well, so super excited about that!

Meanwhile, I'm busy working on the next episode, which is turning out to be something a little bit special.

Stay tuned,
Soen

I'm back! Unfortunately I fell ill with COVID at the end of March, so no March episode... But here I am back for April's episode with another deep dive into deep house.

So fresh from winning Mr Bear Gran Canaria 2024 (thanks everyone who has been in touch!), I realised I had a lot of fantastic left-over tracks that didn't quite make it into that mix - And it looks like lots of people really enjoyed that mix, so I decided to do another one, and bring you more melodic, deep-house, night-driving vibes - With an occasional progressive house track thrown in for good measure.

As a new(ish) DJ I'm still realling honing my sound, but lots of people seem to love my afrobeats and more chilled out deep house mixes, and I'm pleased to announce that I have my first deep house live event happening next year, so keep an eye out for that.

I also want to dedicate this mix to my wingman Adam, who helped me a lot over the course of the Mr Bear competition, who has been a bit sick himself this week, so sending positive, feeling vibes to you.

As always, if you want to send me a message, you can get me on SoundCloud (Soen One), on Instagram (soeno) or find me on Facebook (Soen One).

I hope you enjoy this mix as much as I do!
Peace and light,
Soen

Life likes to throw a curveball sometimes, and I thought I would manage to get a mix or two out on my travels but that didn't happen, and then throw in some ill health, and you end up having to skip an episode of your podcast.

I've been looking at what works and what doesn't work with my listening figures and whilst initially I planned to make this episode Contemporary Classical, I decided that it would be easier and quicker to stick to what I know for this episode - And that's Deep House.

I recorded this mix a few days ago and I've been sitting on it for a few days to listen to it back before posting it; it's my first mix in a bit so wanted to make sure it was up to par, especially when someone else chose the tracks this time!

Narrowed down from 100, here's 18 of melodic and vocal deep house, that I absolutely love working to and regularly wake up humming - There's some definite earworms in there.

And talking of Deep House, I'm happy to announce I'll be attending Anjunadeep's Explorations in Dhermi, Albania this year - So if you see me there come say hi!

Love & peace to you all,
Soen

Wow. Where to begin this one.

One thing I said when starting out this podcast is that I would always record live and do minimal post-production on them (usually just trimming!), but unfortunately the lack of time and energy this month has meant I've recorded this session in 4 parts and spliced them together in post production - Given the bumper nature of this episode, I'm sure you'll forgive me just this once! So 19 days late, here it is, some brilliant party music just before the party season starts proper.

This set was inadvertently inspired by one of my good friends and fellow DJs, Silverhook, after he teased me about loving electroswing as a genre of music. And was like… How did I ever get to 40+ episodes into my podcast without actually covering one of my favourite genres?! Anyway to right that wrong, here is a bumper episode of my podcast featuring no less than 36 tracks in almost 2 hours of nonstop, 124bpm electroswing madness.

What surprised me when researching this episode is the variety of sub-styles within the electroswing world, it’s not all just rehashed wartime music with a bass drum. In this mix, there are touches of pop remixes, dub-step, even a little techno at times. Oh, yes, and plenty and plenty of cheese. Especially the closing track ;)

I feature several tracks by French grandmasters (and an old favourite of mine) Caravan Palace - opening with their possibly most famous track, as well as Austrian electroswing powerhouse Parov Stelar, but also brand new material from Balduin - So keep an ear out for “Mr. Jones (Balduin Remix)” in the middle of the set.

There’s also an unexpected big name in the midst of this set as well - Icona Pop’s Emergency appears - Showing that electroswing isn’t just a fringe musical genre!

So whatever you’re doing this Christmas and New Year, feel free to pop this on in the background to get into the party mood because it’s all about the rhythm in this electroswing megamix!

All the best for 2024,
Soen

This is one of those really fast-paced technical mixes that I had to re-record 5 times to try and get it recorded without mistakes... And still a couple persist! Even though DJs normally use extended mixes for their sets - Sometimes those just don't exist for tracks I like, so I have to make my own extended version, live, on the decks. Most of the time it works, although it can be tricky - No treats this time!

Anyway, the last couple of weeks have been an emotional rollercoaster after falling ill again, so this is a heartfelt house mix, it covers a few different genres, mostly progressive house and deep house, but there are touches of pop and straight up dance here and there.

I'm the first to admit this isn't one of the best mixes in the world, but that's why we try. We learn just as much from trying and failing as we do trying and succeeding - And failures don't negate all of the progress you've made to this point.

So have a listen and see if you agree whether this mix is yay or nay for you.

As always you can reach me at @soen on X (Twitter), @soenone on soundcloud and @soen.one on instagram.

Peace and positive energy to you all,
Soen

This was a spur-of-the-moment (mini?) mix; to celebrate the joys of Halloween!

I love this time of year, the introduction of frosty mornings, and nights drawing in, getting cosy by the fire and watching a good old horror movie on Netflix. I'm looking forward to attending Fright Nights at Thorpe Park again this year after missing it for a few years, and decided to celebrate in my own little way - By putting a mix together.

Now, this mix covers all my favourite genres - Vocal house, pop, a little minimal electronic, all the way to some Epic tracks at the end.

Enjoy!

It's a fresh new month along with a fresh new genre of music!
This month we're deep diving into one of the most important decades in music - The 80's - As if you hadn't guessed that already by the track playing in the background.

This mix is inspired by London's very best 80's themed night, Athena, held every 1st Saturday of the month at the Eagle in London - unfortunately I won't make it this month due to a festival up in Scotland, but I will be making a personal appearance at Athena on the 4th of November, and a big shout out to Paul Joseph the organiser of Athena

This weekend I also had the absolute pleasure of seeing Nora En Pure live at Electric Brixton - She's one of the DJs who really inspired me to get into DJing, and she played an absolutely amazing set, and Electric Brixton is a really fantastic venue as well.

Anyway, back to the music now and we kick off this month's amazing set of 80's classics with Fleetwood Mac and Everywhere.

It's been a couple of busy weeks for me, flying up to Scotland to see my family and back again, going to a late summer events and unfortunately being struck down with ill health

But I'm all good now and back with you this month for a deep dive into melodic and deep house, including some brand new tracks from Eli & Fur, Franky Wah and Aname. And I'm featuring a quite few tracks by Aname who are quickly becoming one of my favourite artists, and I've had the pleasure to see them live a couple of times in the last year and their sets along are incredibly well constructed, focusing on that rich melodic house sound that I will be focusing on today.

So as you've no doubt noticed I don't normally speak on my mixes as I want my podcast to be about the music and not so much about me, but I thought I'd try something different this month to see what you think.

We kick off with an interlude track from Aname's album Beautiful World - Couples Therapy.

Enjoy,
-Soen

Out of all of my mixes, my first Afrobeats podcast episode regularly ranks in the top 3 episodes on my podcast, by number of plays - I think because Afrobeats is still a relatively new genre in the here UK and in America, but it's growth has been explosive recently as people discover its fresh sound - A heady mix of crystal clear beats and laid back vocals. It's a completely different smooth sound compared to what gets airtime these days - Not forgetting of course that Africa itself is home to some 1.2 billion people - Many of whom have just started using the internet for the first time.

Personally, I find myself listening to Afrobeats a lot whilst working, it's lo-fi and chilled vocal style complements my working style which requires a lot of thinking space and concentration, and afrobeats doesn't overburden the listener by being too heavy or too fast.

So on that, I decided to revisit Afrobeats now that we're halfway through 2023 and I've found some great new tracks to share; although it did surprise me that almost all of the tracks are below 3 minutes, so 17 tracks fits into a mere 47 minutes! Mental note for next time I think.

Anyway, enjoy the set and I'll catch you on the next episode for which I have a fairly unique idea.

Stay safe,
Soen

After an absolutely amazing Pride London partying with the amazing guys from Beefmince, I've found myself being really reflective this week, and second guessing everything I do. And I think that comes through in this mix; it's very organic, ranging from the hard-hitting base lines of Oliver Smith, to the heart rending vocals of tracks by aname, and Olafur Arnalds - Arnalds has been one of my favourite contemporary classic composers for many, many years, and always it's fantastic when I get to include him in one of my sets.

The dreamlike WhoMadeWho remix of the Olafur Arnalds & RY X collab has this really strong dreamlike, lo-fi quality, and sits well amongst the other reflective, deep house tracks at the end of this mix.

Incidentally, RY X also closes this mix with their hypnotic track "A Thousand Knives"; a track that really grows on you the more you listen to it.

Initially I had no concept for this set, so I just wandered through my music library and looked at I've recently marked as "liked" on Spotify, shuffle them into some sort of reasonable order in terms of feel, and this is what we get out the other side. And if I can say so, it's turned out to be a pretty solid mix, with only one questionable transition ;)

I absolutely have an strong idea of what I want to do with my next episode, however - I'll be revisiting a genre that has been a pretty big success for me in terms of overall plays, but it's not enough to just revisit the genre, I want a whole new set of tracks, because the genre I chose is really smashing them out lately!

In the mean time, stay safe and enjoy the music,
Soen

So here's what would have been my second set at my USS Sinewave event - Unfortunately due to a scheduling conflict, I never got the opportunity to play this set live, so here it is, in it's full unabridged edition.

Lots of progressive and melodic house in this set, from the textual tribal sound of Joris Delacroix's "Lorena" to the blood pumping drops of Jason Ross's remix of Arty & Mat Zo's "Rebound", and featuring the instant classic "Fall To Pieces" by the epic talent that is Marsh, there's a rollercoaster ride of vocals, rises, drops and everything that I love about the Progressive House genre of music.

Of course, this set would not be complete without featuring a few of the tracks by my favourite group and masters of the Progressive House genre, Above & Beyond. I'm looking forward to attending their event on Brighton Beach this August - That's set to be an amazing time.

As always, I love your feedback and all your comments, you can reach me at @soen on Twitter.

Until next time, stay well,
Soen

I am absolutely digging Lofi as a genre at the moment, so here is my ultimate lofi mix, perfect for a lazy Sunday morning, or chilling out to, or putting on in the background whilst you work. It's absolutely perfect for creative work, free from vocals and heavy distractions. In fact, I think this mix is much more dream-like than I had intended it to.

The title of this episode reflects on our social nature, and how meeting up with friends and just hanging out can be so good for the soul; it's also handily the name of the first track in this mix! With Eurovision coming up next weekend, there will be a lot of social gatherings in order to watch the Europe-wide event.

Keep an ear open for the absolutely amazing tracks "Spanish Castle" (as identified by it's unusual cascading guitar riff) and also the closing track, the wonderful "Tziporrah" by Nadav Cohen closing out with a brilliant, mystical, middle-eastern vibe. The track is taken from the album "Tales of Babylon" and it's a wonderful listen if you're looking for something different.

And things are very busily ramping up for my first live event on the 10th of June, which is a lot of work but promises to be the party of year (I hope!).

As always, you can contact me on twitter @soen, or @soen.one on instagram.

Look after yourselves,

So a recently made a new friend from Zambia and he really wanted to push me outside my comfort zone, and my usual sphere of music by challenging me to create a slick Afrobeats episode; and it's a challenge I've ruminated on for quite some time... But wait no more! Here it is, my long overdue Afrobeats episode!

With this episode I wanted to concentrate on more melodic music; with soulful vibes and smooth, well rounded instrumentation - And most of the tracks fit that brief. It's been wonderful to get to know a completely different genre of music, yet again, and finding that I have the ability to choose and mix some of the finest examples of that genre - It really has been an enjoyable endeavour.

A lot of these tracks are earworms - Listen a couple of times and you'll be waking up humming some great African rhythms like I have been the last few days!

As always, feedback is much appreciated, you can reach me on twitter @soen

Until next time,
Enjoy this Afrobeats set!

DJing is funny. Sometimes you have a set which works, first time, and then you have /those sets/. I often create a setlist after work one day, and then mix it the following day, but often I revisit setlists and wonder how on earth two tracks I selected the night before are supposed to work! Luckily that doesn't happen too often and so you find a replacement track to glue your setlist back together - For example, Samba de Janeiro is one of those tracks - It can make or break a playlist - Especially the radio version!

Anyway, I've spent a lot of time in the last two weeks finding every dance-floor fillers (or bangerz, as we like to call them in the UK!) for an upcoming live event, and accrued a library of 150 or so tracks of my favourites. So this is just a tiny 20-track sampling of my favourites from that list.

As this setlist is almost completely radio edits, you get very little chance to prepare for the next transition (around 2 minutes per track), and over 20 tracks, that leaves lots of chances for mistakes to happen, and hence why I re-recorded this set not once or twice, but in the region of 7 times (hence why it's a week late!). It's intense!

But I'm happy with this final result, no edits, no automation, so here it is - Sinewave Radio Episode 32 - Dancefloor Bangerz!

Until next time, keep dancing,
Soen

Ever get so busy that you forget to upload last week's podcast? Well, that's me! Amidst planning for hosting my first live event in London in June, I neglected my podcast! Oh well!

Here it is! The final part of my 2022 retrospective; lots of interesting tracks in this, featuring Sigala, Purple Disco Machine, and the legend Gareth Emery.

This set closes with two progressive trance tracks, Sea Tides by Andy Blueman and Same Sky Same Stars by Ben Gold. I originally wasn't going to include any trance tracks, but these are so amazing, and trance has been so influential in my years up to becoming a DJ, that I couldn't resist including a couple.

So enjoy, and I'll be back with a genre-busting episode next week!

30th Episode! That's a pretty important milestone for me; it represents over a year's worth of hard work, refining my skills, and coming up with innovative ways to mix and manage music - So it seems appropriate that it falls within my 2022 Retrospective! And I'm just getting started!

Kicking off this mix is a fantastic track by two of my close friends - Tareq and Silverhook's "You And Me". Tareq and Silverhook are often found behind the decks at the wonderful Beefmince at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern; which sells out almost every time - And I was very grateful to be their guest at their NYE celebrations!

We then move onto an already all-time classic, Eelke Kleijn's "Transmission" which you'll often hear me play alongside Sofi Tukker and John Summit's "Sun Came Up" - Which appears later in the mix. The amazing "Old Friend" by Elderbrook makes yet another appearance on my podcast, as it's one of my all time favourite tracks; and of course, no 2022 dance mix would be complete without playing at least one track by superstars CamelPhat, and Gamper and Dadoni doing their thing with "Bittersweet Symphony".

I like my mixes to be both seamless and yet, varied, and this one definitely ticks both boxes! I hope you enjoy this one and I'll be back next week with the third and final part of my 2022 Retrospective.

Enjoy!

Sometimes life comes at you quick! It took me a while to publish this retrospective - partly because mixing such diverse genres makes thing difficult and requires finding the right tracks for the right moments so that transitions are smooth, but secondly over my Christmas break I was unfortunately ill a couple of times and that really pushed back my schedule.

Anyway, it's here! Part 1 of 3 - A look back at some of my favourite tracks that I featured on Sinewave Radio over the last 12 months - There are some classics in here as well as tracks released in 2022 - And what a great year for music it was!

Keep an eye open for Parts 2 and 3 - And always, these sets are recorded live - No pre-rendering allowed - What you hear here, is what you'll here at one of my events - My first London show is coming up very soon! More details on that later.

Keep rockin',

So! A long time coming and about 15 retries, here is a long awaited Drum'n'Bass mix!
It's a mixture of D'n'B, with touch of dubstep and a little dancey in places - Featuring some of my long-time favourites, DJ Fresh, absolute legends Pendulum and of course, you can't mention D'n'B without mentioning the awesome Chase & Status.

A little technically complex this one; not the most technically complex mix I've done live, but certainly in the top 5 - Hence the large number of retries! As always, I record everything live, direct off my decks without any modification; warts and all.

The next episode will be the 1 year anniversary of Sinewave Radio, and I have something a little bit special in store!

Until next time, stay warm,
Soen

Autumn is always a strange time of year for me; the turning of the weather, the clocks going back and the wet days and brown leaves falling from the trees brings a sense of foreboding but also a sense of closure of the year.

And what a year it has been; I've been unexpectedly busy - I’ve had some life changing things happen - almost all for the better, and having closed out my last big trip of the year, and subsequently falling ill to COVID for the last few weeks, it has given me a lot to reminisce and dwell on.

With that, I present to you something I've dwelled on for quite a long time - Something completely left field - An ambient, tranquil mix that reflects autumn’s meditative mood. It is the perfect mix of music to look out of a rain-beaten window and to watch the world go by, as you fall in love once again with the impermeable march of time. We all age a little bit, and we all mourn the excitement and highlights of the year. We want to go back to those times; but sadly we cannot. But new experiences and highlights are never too far away.

This mix contains some fantastic tracks by some of my favourite all-time artists, such as Balmohrea, Rothko, and I became newly acquainted with the work of “Human Is Alive” - who have already become a firm, ambient favourite. I originally intended to close out the set with “Bowspirit” by Balmorhea, but could not resist adding a track by one of my long time favourite artists, Olafur Arnalds with the heart-wrenching “The Air Suddenly Becomes Cold” (Loftið Verður Skyndilega Kalt) - Olafur very simply, and easily putting into music something that ten thousand of my words could never express.

So this week I started a new day job; and it's a completely different set of technologies to what I'm used to using; and completely different hardware for that matter! So lots of learning to do, but thoroughly enjoying it!

And as any good educator will tell you, getting a good night's sleep is fundamental to learning; for your brain to absorb all of those facts and know-how! So in order to wind down to get to sleep, I prescribe you this; the Relaxative. Reminiscent of sunny summer days lounging by the pool, or day dreaming on the beach with a drink in your hand and a book in the other. This episode features deep melodic house to help you unwind with touches of beach house, blissful intergalactic vibes, and a touch of acoustic guitar on the beach watching a futuristic sunset.

So grab a cocktail, turn down the lights and let yourself drift away with these chilled, melodic vibes...

Until next time,

We all grieve differently; and with the passing of Queen Elizabeth last week, this thought has been on my mind the last few days.

This week I had intended to put together another deep house set; and as serendipity has it, a more sombre, thoughtful set was called for. Beginning with the spellbinding and heart-melting "Raye" by Sultan + Shepard, this set is mixed slightly slower, featuring melodic house, progressive house, and occasionally touching on ambient vibes so that you can take time to reflect on what has been; on those that you may have lost and on life's ups and downs.

The tracklist titles really speak to what this set is about; tracks such as "Feel", "Floating", "Only You", "Otherside", "Ethos", "Golden Tears", and Above & Beyond's incredibly moving track "Gratitude" which I first heard live at ABGT 450 last year; and slowing it down to 120bpm really reveals it's incredible production quality and beautiful warm sound and incredible vocals.

If you know my personal DJ style, I put a huge amount of focus on the transitions between tracks, making them as smooth as I can, so the whole set feels like one ever-evolving song; in my mind I held the word "dreamlike" when mixing this set, my hope is that that comes across - And to make it feel even more like a dream, I created a "full-circle" set - That is, starting and ending the set with the same powerful song - "Raye".

This is an extra-long set, I listened to over 100 tracks build this set, finally narrowing it down to 18 tracks that really spoke to me and worked well together - and at 1 hour 38 minutes, I still had another 17 tracks I didn't get to use! Maybe another deep house/melodic set is in order soon.

As always, I love to hear your feedback, you can get me on Twitter @soen or @soen.one on instagram, or leave a comment below.

Until next time, keep well and look after each other,
S

So it's taken 4 weeks to publish this podcast - No thanks to being me being incredibly busy with festivals and other events, and then having a hard drive crash mid-August, but I've finally managed to retrieve this podcast episode from the wreckage and still incredibly pleased with my first foray into Spanish and Latin pop/dance music.

This mix has some amazing full blooded tracks in it - All the way from Pop to Trance, with an unapologetic few cheesy tracks in there too. Great sizzling vibes to match the sizzling weather we've had in the UK recently! This mix features a stonking 23 tracks in total; and they come fast and furious! And I'm incredibly happy with the way it turned out.

So until next time,

So this week's genre was going to be Powerful Vocals - Tracks that are reknowned for their amazing vocals; but given the heat I decided to change that up instead and look at what's new in the world of deep, melodic and progressive house, and mix them together in to a slow, hazy days of summer mix. If you know me, I'm somewhat of a music maximalist, I love tracks that have lots of textures and colours and instruments, and boy this mix has layers and textures galore. Breakbeats, drum and bass beats, dual vocals, sitars, malimba, spanish guitars, piano, they're all in there.

Let me know what you think! You can reach me on my socials on twitter @soen, or on facebook.com/SoenOne

So last weekend was the amazing and huge London Pride - 1.5 million people took part - And so, I've taken my favourite tracks from my pride playlist... And decided to set myself a challenge!

This is a cold mix - A mix done without any preparation or "warm-up". The challenge here is to create an effective and unique transition to each track live but I've only got the length of each track to decide and test out (via my cans) a mixing strategy, and then replay the mixing live when the end of the track comes - Often not knowing the song intimately! It results in some...interesting choices! So here it is. The Pride Mix - Cold Edition - Warts and all!

1. Spice Girls - Spice Up Your Life
2. Kylie Minogue - Your Disco Needs You

18. Electric Six - Gay Bar
This week, I've rediscovered my love of Deep House, and all the wonderful varieties of it. It fits nicely in-between my love of contemporary classical, progressive house and melodic house. So this mix features some of the latest releases from Anjunadeep, and label resident Rezident features heavily here too. Listen out for Rufus Du Sol, the classic deep track Serenity by Popof, and some of best female vocals that I've heard in a long time.

So the last couple of weeks have been incredibly busy; but I managed to stop by the Mighty Hoopla festival in London and had an absolute blast! Definitely booking again for next year.

Meanwhile, the amazing Nick Charles of Gaydio and Loud Brown Gays podcast, sent me a mix for me to give constructive feedback... Which I did, but then I thought... What if I were to take his playlist and make my own mix of it! And voila! Here it is!

I'm excited to see the Freemasons play live at the amazing Roast at Electrowerkz in London on the 25th of June; so in their honour, I rounded out my mix with their amazing "When You Touch Me" - An absolutely classic disco/dance track that never seems to age and is sure to get the house jumping!
Sun, 29 May 2022 19:01:43 +0000
So, it turned out that I had perhaps over-planned Episode 16, as I had 26 tracks selected for that episode... And only 15 made the cut. So here, I present to you some of my favourite latest vocal trance, euphoric dance hits that didn't make the first cut. Also, see if you can spot the Progressive House track that I sneakily smuggled in. If you know me well, it won't be hard to spot as it's by one of my favourite artists!
Sun, 22 May 2022 16:36:43 +0000
So this, one of my partners in clubbing crime challenged me to come up with a trance mix, celebrating the best of Vocal and Euphoric Trance... A bit of a promo of the sort of sound you'll hear if you head to Unicorn London on the 4th of June at the amazing E1 Club.

This mix starts out pretty easy listening and then gently slides into the harder genre of euphoric house - But not too much of course, because us bears can't dance for too long without a drop ;) I ended this mix with the amazing and uplifting "Give your heart a home" an instant classic from Richard Durand featuring the incredible voice of Haliene.

So let me know what you think on my socials, @soen on twitter and facebook.com/soenone :D

It's Eurovision week! So in honour of this megalith of the music and entertainment industry, I've dedicated this week's episode to all of my favourite Eurovision tracks of the last few years - 25 of the most upbeat pop and dance numbers to set the party mood for Saturday's grand finale! I'm going to have a little get together to watch it, are you?

After a busy weekend helping out the guys at legendary London nights Trough and Unicorn, I decided to go slightly different with this set, inspired by the night Meat at Dalston Superstore I attended few weeks ago; I've decided to expand my knowledge of funk, disco and a bit of nu-synth as well. Although old habits die hard and I end up wandering back into more familiar domain of Electronica towards the end of the set, a couple of tracks which will raise a couple of eyebrows, with the last transition in the set definitely make you think I've lost the plot. But keep calm because I know what I'm doing. Allegedly.

Two weeks ago unfortunately whilst I was out cycling, I was hit by a car and hospitalised - Luckily my injuries were not too serious but they are still taking a while to recover from... Many thanks to everyone who reached out upon hearing of the accident and all of the well wishes I've received has made me feel much better! I'm glad I am now well enough to start DJing again, so here is the much later than expected second half of my Birthday Mix - Which unrepentantly wanders across all of my favourite genres of music - epic, classical, trance, pop, edm, and house. Enjoy and I have something completely fresh and new for you to hear next week!
Mon, 04 Apr 2022 21:29:40 +0000
It's my birthday this week and for something I special, I decided to crawl back through 10 years of playlists and pick some of my very favourite tracks and mix them together. A challenging mix with most tracks only having radio versions available, but I think it pulled together in the end!

This is the first mix of a pair, I'm hoping to record the second part later this week and then create one massive megamix, over 2 hours long and featuring 35 of my favourite tracks. Keep tuned!

So life can get in the way of the music sometimes, so apologies for skipping an episode last week - I was actually midway through learning new DJ software and wasn't happy with my skill level quite yet to publish something new to the podcast. This week itself has been a little bit bumpy, so here's a ramp up mix from deep house to melodic, progressive house as we pick ourselves up again.

It's been 10 years since my brother past away, and I've been thinking about him a lot, so I chose to close the set with the heartfelt "Safe" by Monkey Safari (Joris Voorn Remix), whose lyrics just pulls at my heart strings every time I hear it. Incredible song.

This week's selection is all about songs that give me attitude... Not songs that are hard to mix, but songs that give attitude in their lyrics or beats! I've brought back a few old school tracks in this mix, which has given me an idea for next week's mix!
So I'm trying something completely new - A mix without any vocals. In my day job as a software developer, it's a known phenomenon that it can be difficult or even distracting to listen to music with vocals when you're concentrating on something. So, I decided to try making a mix, sans voyelles - without vocals, because perhaps then it will help you work how I do! As always, feedback is very welcome, you can catch me on twitter - @soen_one :)

My first chillout set was so well received, I decided to do another chillout set - Because who doesn't love to chill out? But this time I'm focusing on one experience type of chillout music - Acoustic, chilled covers of famous dance/pop songs. I'm really happy with how this set turned out; as per usual, there's a few surprises in there, and definitely keep an ear open for Elisa's Dancing at the end of the set - An achingly beautiful, heart-breaking song.

So this has been a bit of a tricky episode to put together! Mostly because a few of the tracks are radio edits, not designed to be mixed together, but also because I decided in my infinite wisdom to mix from disco down to melodic house, via a few other genres too. But overall I'm happy with the result... Even if it's a day late!

So here's a special mix I've put together in the afterglow of the fantastic Mighty Hoopla Weekender last weekend at Butlin's Bognor Regis. The crowd and artists were so fun and positive, but after 3 days of partying, it's time for a bit of a chill out - Hence this mix. I've included lots of down tempo acoustic covers by artists that haven't yet hit the big time, alongside some of the bigger names that you will normally find on my sets. I hope you enjoy this break from normal, and we'll back to it next week with more melodic beats.

This episode of Beta is dedicated to all of the club kids, ravers, and party goers heading to the epic Mighty Hoopla Weekender at Butlins Bognor Regis this weekend. Mixed at a slightly slower rate than usual, a selection of melodic down tempo songs for you to relax and chat to your friends over, or to put on in the background for the next Hoopla party.

I will be in attendance too, and can't wait to see you all there!

This mix starts off with full blooded piano dance tracks, flashes back to couple of old classics, before settling down into more moody, deep house vibes. From energy to the downlow; it's the downturn.
